Breakfast Casserole

8 slices bread -- cubed
1 pound sausage, ham, or ground beef
2 1/2 cups milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
4 eggs
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup milk

Place bread cubes in 8x10" buttered pan and top with cheese. Brown & drain sausage or ground beef and place on top of cheese. Beat eggs with 2-1/2 cups milk and the dry mustard. Pour over top. Refrigerate 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Dilute soup with 1/2 cup milk and salt. Pour over top and bake at 300° for 1-1/2 hours. This casserole puffs up and browns nicely. Will fall as it starts to cool.
