This is my mom's famous coffee cake--everyone loves it!
SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup whit sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sour cream
2 cups flourTOPPING:
6 tbsp softened butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nutsCream shortening and sugar until light, add vanilla and beat in eggs on at a time. Add flour, powder and soda to creamed shortening, mixing alternately with sour cream. Place half the batter in a greased 10 inch tube pan. Sprinkle half the topping over the batter. Add remaining batter and top with the rest of the topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 - 50 minutes.
