Ho-Ho Bars


2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup oil
1 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
FILLING
2 cups confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
FROSTING
1 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons margarine
6 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips

For cake layer, mix together flour, sugar, soda and salt; set aside. Melt together margarine, oil, water, cocoa, and vanilla and pour over dry ingredients. Beat until well blended. Add eggs and buttermilk. Mix well. Pour into greased jelly-roll pan. Bake at 350° F for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool.

For filling layer, beat 1 C. confectioner's sugar, milk, salt, Crisco shortening, water, and vanilla until very fluffy. Add second cup of confectioner's sugar. Beat well and spread over cooled cake.

For frosting boil sugar, margarine, and milk for 1-1/2 minutes. Add chocolate chips and beat until cool & thick. Spread over filling and allow to cool before serving.
