This sould go under main dish or entree about 12 servings
Kalua Pork
4-5 lb pork butt roast or shoulder roast
1 clove minced or chopped garlic...(when in a hurry, I use
the stuff in the jar the produce aisle of grocery store)
3 T. Hawaiian salt or coarse rock salt
3 T. liquid smoke
Cook in a slow cooker crock pot for 12-14 hours on low, or 8-10 hours on high. The salt
will make this pork roast have a lot of juices to marinade in. Drain the meat and shred. I
know it doesn't sound good, but is wonderful. Good for a luau type dinner. I have people
that are Hawaiian natives ask me how I did it without burrying the pig...they laugh when
they find out it takes two minutes to prepare...then sit back and wait. My soon to be
sister in law gave me this recipe. We made it for an international dinner and have been
asked to cook it for four other events since then.
You can also boil cabbage and onions, drain and add to the shredded meat. Enjoy and
Aloha!!!
