Shep replies..................
Try the repair options in TweakUI
part of the powertoys set from MS first.
Windows 98 has a system file checker, read how to use this option or,
You could have a corrupt control panel icon
Use find to get a list of cpls and then double click
on each in turn and if one or more causes trouble
then replace it from your windows Cdrom.
Win98 as the ability to view and extract cab files built in.
Extract a fresh copy from your Windows 95/98 CAB files.
Win 98 can read the can files, but for pre-win98.
Install TweakUI from the powertoys
set and then the Cab viewer by right clicking on the
cabview.inf and installing.
You can then use an *ADVANCED* find, not normal
find,to look for the cpl you need off the win95
Cdrom and then right click on it and you will
have an extract option,so extract to the windows/system
folder. desk.cpl is named deskw95.cpl on
the windows 98 CD.(Thanx to James Liles for that one).
