My First Chat Room Experience

Last night, I had my first Chat Room experience at the kt-class. For those of you who missed the big event in my life, and for those of you who might attempt it in the future, I thought I'd share my experience in order to avoid others pain and suffering.
Dottie had given me the info. At 7 pm I did everything I was told and, behold!, I entered the Chat Room. So I wrote "Hello" as instructed and waited. Nothing. So I said hello again. Silence. I did this several times without success.
Then I noticed a button that said Live Help. I was alive. I needed help. So I pressed it. Jenn came on to ask how she could help me. I explained I had been helloing myself but I could not find the other people. What seemed like a long time passed, and then Jenn asked, "What do you mean you have been helloing yourself?" I repeated it. She then informed me that there was nobody there.
I immediately realized Jenn was a lot of french fries short of a kiddie meal. And she was lying. I was there. She was there, and purporting to be alive no less. I knew I was not helloing myself this time! I thanked her and Xed out.
I tried the same thing at 8 pm. I Helloed myself a couple of times. Then I saw rabbit's thread. I'm supposed to be on at 9 pm. Oh!!
A few minutes after 9 pm I got through. I immediately started seeing refereces to chocklit. Success!!! Before I could type anything, a bunch of "Hello, Marlen" appeared. I knew for sure I was not helloing myself this time.
I helloed back. Little musical beeps sounded every time I sent something.
It became apparent immediately that I was the only chat room virgin present. Then there was talk about cheesecake. People were putting in their order: snickers, blueberry, cherry, etc. I said anything will do for me. I'm a cheap date. They went on to discuss salmon and lobster. I gained 10 pounds. They offered to type slow for me, but I realized it did not matter. I kept mispelling "I am hysterical" so I couldn't read anything anyhow.
Somebody new arrived who was there also for the first time and did not know the KT. I welcomed her immediately figuring we could bond because of our similar circumstances. I kept posting messages to her and was elated that I could keep up with at least one person. Charitably, I was informed she had just looked and left. No wonder I could keep up!
I then asked why she did not say goodbye, because Dottie had taught me that was the proper etiquette. Dottie then warned me not to divulge anything she had taught me. Therefore, I could not share tips on the best attire to attract sailors.
DH came out of the bedroom saying the computer "ding-a-lings" were bothering him. I told him I was also bothered by a ding-a-ling and to go back to bed.
Back in the chat room, I excused myself to get a pop and turned the AC to its coldest setting, since I was sweating profusely from the stress. When I returned there was talk of kitty poop. So I was glad I had left. References to my refrigerator door upgrade surfaced. I was asked if we had a video camera. I replied we do, but only DH uses it, and so far all we have is video of the dogs' private parts because he always takes the shot when they are jumping. Consequently, I no longer jump. I was assured that this would comfort me in my old age.
DH then came in wrapped in blanket saying he was freezing, and demanding to know when we had been transported back to Chicago. I gave him one of my best Cuban looks, and he retreated into the bedroom mumbling about high electrical bills and the need to burn furniture for warmth.
Unable to continue due to stress and DH, I said my formal goodbyes.
This morning, for the first time in my life, I took Geritol. I must keep up.
Thank you, KTers. I am no longer a chat room virgin. But I gotta tell you, though. My honeymoon was easier.

I have been to a few of the chats but I mostly read I can't type that fast. But most of the time I get kicked off for some reason or another. I love reading your posts, everyone needs a good laugh to make their day.

Patty, I have indeed danced on the table. But that was in my youthful past, and so I don't bring it up.
If I have to dance on a table at the KT, I better get tips!

You did Wonderful Marlen!!!! It does go fast....but you kept right up with it all. Hey, you never did pick up your cheesecake....everyone else came and got theirs out of the frig.....isn't your camera working??? LOL It was so much fun! Glad you found your way. Like everything we talked of, it does get easier with practise! *G*

I tried so hard several times yesterday to get in to the chat room and it wouldn't let me. Said I had a firewall and that I should try another method of chatting. I had no idea what to do and am still bummed that I couldn't chat. If Marlen can do it, I CAN DO IT! Can ANYONE offer help? I really love cheesecake.

Marlen, Marlen, Marlen...I tell you not to divulge all the tips I give you then you come here and post them. That means no POSTING either!! We let you recuperate before we make you dance on the tables...and you do get tips. Sgiwerq wpsidf ewrgh pffrn qiy. Just thought you needed to know that but didn't want you to be able to read it because you'd blab it all over...LOL. When cop hubby goes out on a raid, do you call them and tell them he's on the way? Or do you just drive by and yell, "Run, Run"? ROTFLMAO!! You did really well at chat. I was proud of you...and you kept up with us better than you're admitting you did. Maybe you can help me with my table dancing because I'm not very good at it yet.

I chatted yesterday morning for the first time in my life.It took me so long to type my messages that I missed what everyone was saying. They were all very kind , friendly and patient with me and I had the a wonderful time.I finally just sat and read what they said for a while.Thanks everyone for the great lesson.(((Everyone)))

marlen, i would like to say i am sorry i missed you last nite. you are so charming and funny. maybe i will see you there next time. i was at chat quite early and only the queen and i were there. we only had a few moments, but queen rabbit finally admitted to me that i, kim, was her favorite, and that i have always been her favorite. i am so happy!....BTW, the queen wanted me to be sure and let wanda know this, i can't imagine why, but i must do as the queen commands. i bow to you, my queen.

ROFLMAO, again!!! Marlen, you truly have a gift! Reading your post reminded me so much of the last Irma Bombeck book that I read. We will surely lose you .......I see a book deal in your future soon......LOL.....until then, please continue to entertain us with your "Adventures in KT Land".

ahem...for the record : I was in chat last night, one hour early. I was queen... I did talk to Kim OK... and she is my favorite. About 15 minutes before chat, webtv got the hiccups... and it and I wrastled on the for 1/2 hour... got back in to see Marlen lose her innocence... and burp again. grrrrrr Then... we fought again and webtv pinned me to the floor, and kept me there. sigh They always win!
I am so mad I missed the fun.
Where is that Miss Halo Head?????
the one who spreads rumors about rabbit and choklit?????
Wanda where ever you are hiding... I know you hacked me last night....now come out and fight like a rabbit, will ya?

Reesa, I was very proud of you yesterday also and disappointed you didn't make it again last night. You and Marlen could kind of protect each other...LOL.

Kim, I don't underrstand this. I was leaving the room just as you got there and rabbit was telling me that I was her favorite. How many favorites does she have? If I'm NOT her favorite then I'm going to quit bringing her so much chocolate every time I come to chat.

And, rabbit, Wanda was right because I smelled your breath and you smelled just like choklit...I could smell the Hershey's and Lady Godiva and Fannie Mae all mixed together.

After reading all your posts, I realize I'm more ignorant that I thought.
Is the Queen the first one to arrive or is that pesky rabbit royalty to boot? If the former, then I am most certainly the Queen. I was there talking to that lying Jenn two whole hours before anybody!!!!!
On top of this confusion, now I have to teach Dottie to salsa-dance so we can dance on the table together! At least, I'm the salsa pro, so I should rate a few more tips than her!

My salsa was made in New York City...LOL. I won't do it unless I get to wear heels that go click, click, click when I hop around. And I want one of the long lacey veils you wear on your head. What do you call them? Tortillas? Yes, I shall dance with my tortillas and salsa and make much more money than you.

The first one to arrive is the Queen. But see, you left the room and when you leave the room, you lose the crown. Also the Queen gets to pick out the subject of the chat, which, as near as I can remember, is very seldom discussed anyhow. It's just as well because most of us don't know how to put the subject up there. I've only been Queen once because I'm usually late. Next time just sit there for an hour...LOL. But beware...they can snatch the crown right off of your head when you're not watching.

As I sit here polishing my halo, I see that everyone is picking on me! I know that I am bunny's favorite, so you can't upset me, Kim. We were glad to have you there, Marlen, and promise that it will be easier as time goes on. Dottie can teach you about dancing on the table and Damon can give you lots of pointers on the nekkid dancing as well as help you with the paperwork when the chatters want to pay for your dancing with a credit card.

I didn't spread rumors about your choklit breath, bunny, because I am no tattle-tale. That is Shannon! And besides, you can have all the choklit you want now that you are expecting...and eating for your 300 little bunnies.

I have never been to chat room. I think I can type pretty fast, but have been scared off for fear I can't keep up. The fact that I could be Queen does turn me on, but the fact that I could also be a virgin is more of a turn on. Who Me?? Marlen, as always, you have made my day with your play by play. ROTFLMBO!!!!

This is a private chat room. Not like the rest of the net. On occasion, someone who is not a KTer will surf in. Only once has one of these surfers stayed more than a few minutes. I guess they don't find us as amusing as we find ourselves. Lol (the one time, the lady stayed, and joined in and was a delight to share the room with) I say this, so you don't fear it. We all have heard the net stories. This is KT CLASS... all KTers.. just us talking faster than usual.
