Never Fail Meringue


9 egg whites
18 T. sugar
3 T. cornstarch
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Set aside egg whites. Mix next 4 ingred. over med-low heat stirring
constantly, till thick & kinda opaque looking. Remove from heat & add
vanilla. Let this cool, then start beating egg whites & gradually add
cooled cornstarch mixture & beat until stiff peaks form. Put on top of
pies & lightly brown in 400* oven for 5-10 minutes, or till brown.
DO NOT try to double this recipe, it won't work!
