Buttermilk fudge
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 cup butter 1 tsp vanilla
2 TBSP white corn syrup
Combine Buttermilk, butter, syrup, soda and sugar in a dutch oven. Stir over low
heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Cook very slowly stirring
slightly until the hard ball stage. Remove from heat cool 10 to 15 minutes. Beat
until no longer glossy, stir in nuts and vanilla. Pour into buttered pan and cut
while warm.
