2 cups sugar 1 cup water
2 cups sifted flour 1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon soda 1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt 2 eggs, beaten
1 cup butter or margarine 1 teaspoon vanilla
Sift together sugar, flour, soda and salt. In saucepan combine butter, water and
cocoa; stirring constanly, bring to tolling boil over medium heat. Add to dry
ingredients, mixing well. Stir in buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour into
greased and floured 15 X 10 X 1 inch baking pan. Bake in preheated 400 oven,
20-25 minutes. When cake is done, pour mininature marshmallows over cake, cover
with towel and press lightly. While cake is cooling prepare frosting as follows:
1 stick margarine 1 pound sifted powdered sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons milk 1 cup chopped nuts
Bring the margarine, cocoa and milk to boil. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and
nuts. Frost warm cake in pan.
Note: this is a soft cake. Cut and serve from pan.
