Frostbite Steak
You can do this with almost any kind of beef or game (it's usually done with
moose here!).
Serves 10
2-3 lb frozen steak, must be boneless
Put frozen meat in oven safe dish and place in the oven at 167 F (or 170! :) ).
Leave it for 10-12 hours or overnight. If you want to you can put in an
thermometer after a couple of hours when the meat has thawed. Check the temp and
take out the meat when it is as pink/red as you desire.
Marinade
4 cups water
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper (not ground)
1 crumbled bay leaf
Mix water and spices in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Let the marinade cool.
Put the warm steak in the marinade and let it cool. Take it out after 4 or 5
hours or it will become too salt.
Serve with potatoes au gratin and a tossed salad.
