Pork Chops with Ventura Sauce
4 to 6 1-inch thick pork chops
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 C. dry sherry or broth
1/3 C. Kikkoman soy sauce
4 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp oil
2 dashes red pepper sauce
4 Tbsp cold water
4 Tsp cornstarch
Brown chops. Remove from pan and add garlic. Cook just until soft. Add pork
chops. Make
sauce in a small bowl from sherry, soy sauce, brown sugar, oil and red pepper
sauce. Pour over chops. Cover and let simmer for about 30 minutes, until chops
are done. Remove chops from pan. Combine cornstarch and water and add to sauce.
Cook until thickened. Serve with noodles, rice or couscous.
