Rum or Bourbon Sauce

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 large egg
3 Tbl bourbon
Beat butter at med speed until creamy, gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg, milk, until blended.
Pour into heavy saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, so it won't scorch, for 5 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in bourbon. Cool, chill, cover.
